Some of my emails go to Archive folder automatically without chance of being read. Archive appears to be a local (on-my-mac) folder which removes the emails from IMAP. We are 3 people using one IMAP account (support email), moving emails to a local archive folder on my Mac prevents other two co-workers to have access to all emails received. How do I dissable Archive in Mail completely? Thanks.

I was having this same issue, with random new unread emails being automatically moved out of my inbox to an Archive folder in the Mail program (interestingly, they still showed up in my inbox on my iPhone).
I found a solution on another thread: Go to Gmail Settings > Labels and uncheck the "Show in IMAP" checkbox next to "All Mail."
Once I did this all the messages reappeared in my inbox. Hope this helps!
That shouldn't happen as long as you have the Inbox label enabled. These are the Gmail label settings that work for me. All Mail is the crucial label to uncheck to fix the archive issue in the Mail app.

It's a Gmail function, not Mac Mail, if you stop using Gmail it stops.

One problem that I found right away, though: when I chose to delete a Gmail message in Mail, I got an error that indicated "Trash" folder didn't exist on the server. . . . Hmmm . . . Well, that makes sense in light of this thread, right? . . .
So I went to the Preferences > Accounts > selected Gmail > Mailbox Behaviors and unchecked the box by "Store deleted messages on the server." . . .
Thereafter, I was able to delete Gmail messages.
So far, so good!

I do not have a rule created to move messages to Archive folder. I also did not create the Archive folder itself, though it is full of messages (new and old). I've seen other people asking about how to turn off Archive feature in Mail on other forums as well.
Same problem here. Mail is archiving randomly: New, Old, Read, Unread, Spam, Friendly...
Al rules deleted.
Junk turned off: but still markes my mail as Junk.
A complete mess.

Its the way Gmail works. Gmail archives all your mail, log into the web mail app and you will see you have an inbox and an all mail folder. Log into gmail using your web browser then go to the pop/imap settings and change the archive setting.
There is no "auto-archive" feature in Mail. Stuff is only moved to the archive folder if you move it, or click the "archive" button in the toolbar.
Happening to me as well on my mac.com (aka iCloud) address in 10.10.4. No rules set to archive. No other users of the mail account.

Yes, Gmail hasn't changed. It's still the non-standard POS it always was.
